Global University Systems Canada welcomed more than 40 agency owners and executives from Latin America and the Caribbean to attend a five-day GUS Canada Executive Summit of the Americas from March 21 to 25.
The group was also hosted by members of the International Business Development – Latin America and Caribbean team including Senior Regional Director, Lawrence Ragos, Regional Director, Michelle Hicks and Associate Director, Gabreial de La O.
The Executive Summit provided an opportunity for Global University Systems (GUS) Leadership to showcase the GUS Canada ecosystem, including our institutions and partners. It also allowed the group to experience top study destinations, Toronto, Niagara and Vancouver first-hand.
The multi-city FAM tour started in Toronto with a visit to tour Toronto School of Management and Niagara College – Toronto.
In Toronto, the group received welcome messages from Max Etingen, VP GUS International, Ehsan Safdari, Managing Director – GUS Canada Colleges, and Bernardo Riveros, Director of International Strategy – GUS Canada. They also received a special welcome from a representative of the Mexican Consulate at GUS Canada. During their time in Toronto, the group also saw presentations about Public-Private Partnerships in Canada, Niagara College – Toronto and Fleming College Toronto.
The group then headed to Niagara to visit our partner, Niagara College Canada. Dr. Sean Kennedy, President of Niagara College, and Sean Coote, VP International of Niagara College, delivered opening remarks upon arrival. The group toured the campus, received a presentation about Niagara College and heard from the Mayor of Niagara Falls, Jim Diodati.
The group landed in Vancouver on March 23 and attended a welcome reception with a special greeting from GUS Canada CEO Cyndi McLeod at University Canada West (UCW). They also received welcoming remarks from Dr. Randall Martin, Executive Director of BC Council of International Education.
Our partners then heard from Sheldon Levy, President and Vice-Chancellor – UCW, and Chris Velasco, Director of Canadian College of Technology & Business (CCTB). They also had the opportunity to tour our Vancouver campuses. During the group’s time in Vancouver, they attended sessions with CCTB and UCW, networked and enjoyed a tour of Vancouver.
