Glenn Craney Joins GUS Canada as Inaugural Chief Operating Officer

We are pleased to announce the appointment of Glenn Craney as the inaugural Chief Operating Officer (COO).

As a member of the Executive Team, Glenn will play a pivotal role in shaping the GUS Canada’s organizational strategy as well as overseeing overall operations. The COO is entrusted with ensuring that GUS Canada and our affiliate institutions have the processes and systems to support an international organization poised for exponential growth. Glenn will be at the helm of formulating and executing overarching operational strategies, solidifying GUS Canada’s future trajectory.

Glenn joins us from Toronto Metropolitan University (TMU) where he was the Chief Strategy Officer. In that capacity, he led the Planning Office and was responsible for developing, communicating, and implementing strategic plans to advance the university priorities. This included leading activities related to the university’s academic plan, enrolment planning, and budget planning as well as overseeing survey research, data analysis, performance measurement, and institutional research projects.  Over the last two years, Glenn also led TMU Global in the development of a new international strategy.

Prior to joining TMU, he was the Assistant Deputy Minister, Postsecondary Education at the Ontario Ministry of Colleges and Universities. Glenn was also the founding Executive Director of the Ontario Council on Articulation and Transfer (ONCAT) – a members-driven organization that was created to enhance student pathways between Ontario’s 45 public postsecondary institutions. With more than 25 years of experience working in the university and public sector, including senior management positions at York University and the University of Guelph, Glenn has developed a deep understanding of the challenges and opportunities in higher education.

Glenn earned a master’s degree in economics from the University of Toronto and an honours bachelor’s degree in economics from Western University.
